Where the Wild Things Are is a great children’s book by Maurice Sendak. Growing up I have always been somewhat of a critical child. The case was no different when I read this book around the age of 7 or 8. In the book the little boy dressed in a wolf costume is sent to his room for telling his mother “I’ll eat you up." Once in his room he imagines a strange land and becomes the king of the monsters. During the whole sequence of the boy in the jungle there is no dialogue. When the boy gets back his dinner is on the bed-side-table still warm. I was very much surprised that the movie writers were able to get a full movie out of this very short book. Overall I think this book is a little bizarre, but I definitely recommend it for new readers.
